Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Express Desire and Readiness to Resolve All Issues Through Negotiations

Today in a neutral territory between the Guliston and the Kyzyl-Bel checkpoints, a meeting of working groups was held under the leadership of the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saimumin Yatimov and the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchibek Tashiev.

The meeting focused on the issues of stabilizing the situation in the border territories of both republics.

The parties expressed their desire and readiness to resolve all issues through negotiations.

As a result, the parties came to an agreement from 13:00 of April 30 to begin a mutual withdrawal of all types of troops and military equipment from the border territories of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic to places of permanent deployment, to open roads and ensure the unhindered movement of citizens.

Working groups have been created under the leadership of the commanders of the border troops of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic to ensure the implementation of the agreements reached.

It was decided to hold a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on The Delimitation and Demarcation of the Tajik-Kyrgyz state border on May 1 in the Batken region.

The meeting was held in the spirit of mutual understanding and good neighborly relations.
